Caps and per-kilometre rates change with the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits, so check the current version on ndis.gov.au and update the fields above. Travel must also be agreed with the participant in the service agreement. This is an estimate, not billing advice.
Common questions
Can NDIS providers claim for travel time?
Under the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits, providers can claim for a worker's time travelling to a participant for some supports, subject to time caps that depend on the participant's location (Modified Monash Model region), plus non-labour costs such as kilometres travelled. Always check the current Pricing Arrangements, as the rules and limits are reviewed each year.
What are the NDIS provider travel time caps?
Historically, provider travel time has been capped at 30 minutes per trip in MMM 1–3 areas and 60 minutes in MMM 4–5 areas, with different arrangements for remote and very remote areas. The caps in this calculator are editable so you can match the Pricing Arrangements in force when you claim.
How do I claim non-labour travel costs?
Non-labour costs, such as a per-kilometre vehicle cost, are claimed separately from travel time, at or below the rate set in the Pricing Arrangements and only where agreed with the participant. Enter the current per-kilometre rate in the calculator to estimate it.
Is travel time paid to the worker under SCHADS?
What you can claim from the NDIS and what you must pay your worker are separate questions. SCHADS has its own rules for paying time travelling between clients during a shift and for vehicle allowances. A travel claim that's capped by the NDIS can still be fully payable to the worker, which is a common source of lost margin.
Stop doing this by hand every pay cycle
RaddeCare+ applies SCHADS, Aged Care and Nurses award rules to every shift on your roster, then flows timesheets into payroll, NDIS invoicing and Xero or MYOB.
